Finding your perfect carer

Domiciliary carer
Live-in carer
Specialist carer

Whether you are looking for care for yourself or for someone you love, FiNN Homecare is here to help you navigate the process.

Our knowledgeable office team is the first point of contact and will ensure that your care needs are identified via a comprehensive assessment. We recognise the importance of multi-disciplinary working so if any healthcare professionals are already involved in your care, we will seek their input as well as yours, to ensure that a person-centred care plan is developed.

Our small team of social care professionals can provide any type of non-medical care. At FiNN Homecare we aim to do everything we can to ensure that you can stay in your own home safely for as long as you wish.

We specialise in domiciliary care, live-in care and specialist care.

Domiciliary care

The support provided by our social care professionals in the domiciliary team is tailored to the amount of support required – we offer so much more than the stereotypical half-hour flying visit with a microwave meal. Our aim is to ensure that you stay as independent as possible for as long as possible and can continue doing the things you enjoy.

We have a small team of social care professionals, who between them carry out visits seven days a week, 365 days a year.

We pride ourselves on the flexible service that we can offer – our domiciliary visits are needs-led and catered specifically to you. Double-handed care (in cases where two social care professionals are needed at one time) is also available.

What does domiciliary care offer?

Our social care professionals are trained to provide the care required. Often, it’s personal care, such as needing support to shower, have a wet shave or a hair wash. Alternatively, it may be for assistance with household tasks like doing the laundry or preparing a freshly cooked meal. If you’re looking for companionship visits or for someone to accompany you to medical appointments, we do that too.

How many visits a week should I have?

Our social care professionals can visit you as little as once a week or assist you for up to 12 hours a day. Our ethos is to be as flexible and accommodating as possible.

How many different carers will I have?

We recognise the importance of consistent, continuous care provided by familiar faces. Your initial visits will be carried out by Liz Hogan, Director and Head of Care, to ensure that your personal routine is captured accurately – whether that be how hot you like your shower or where your favourite mug is kept. Thereafter we will introduce you to a core team of three or four social care professionals.

Live-in care

If you need the reassurance of 24/7 care but want to stay in your own home, live-in care may be a good alternative.

Live-in care is when a social care professional comes to live with you to ensure that you can remain as independent as possible, while staying in the environment that you’re familiar with (something that we know is particularly essential for those living with short-term memory loss).

The role of the live-in carer is catered to your needs – it may be a companionship role or it may be to assist you with all daily aspects of life, from personal care to liaising with healthcare professionals and attending medical appointments.

We recognise the importance of the client-to-carer match, which is why we ensure that your interests, hobbies and personality traits are reflected in the assessment of your care needs. This enables us to find the most suitable live-in carer for you.

What does Live-in care offer?

From personal care to domestic chores, our live-in carers are there to fit into your life. They can prepare freshly cooked meals, do the food shopping, request and collect prescriptions, arrange and accompany you to hospital appointments – in short, anything that’s needed.

Can you arrange short-term live-in care?

Yes! Live-in care can be a temporary provision. We often have clients who need live-in care for a few weeks only – for instance, after surgery or while they recover from illness.

How long will the carer stay?

This can be catered to your preferences. Some live-in carers prefer to work two or three weeks at a time; others prefer to stay with their client longer term (3+ months) before taking their first break.

What does specialist care offer?

Our team of social care professionals are experienced in all aspects of care, whether it’s hoisting, incontinence care (including catheter and stoma care), or help with eating and drinking. We work alongside any healthcare professionals involved to make sure your needs are fully met, and take precautions to prevent any risks associated with your condition.

How many visits a week should I have?

Our team has the flexibility to visit you as frequently as needed. We pride ourselves on the adaptable service that we offer. We are passionate in working to improve the stigma often attached to domiciliary care – we offer so much more than a quick in-out visit.

How many different carers will I have?

When it comes to complex and specialist care, continuity and consistency are essential for delivering high-quality care. You will have three or four social care professionals assigned to your care, ensuring that you can get to know one another well.
